Jim conducts applied policy research in conflict reduction and building stability in fragile states.

A reputable private sector is regarded as a critical factor. Recent research has consequently been focused on helping extractive industry companies meet standards of social responsibility while simultaneously increasing their competitive position.

Equally important is the capacity of host governments to respond by improving their capacity for resource governance in the interests of stability and providing equitable benefits to the population. Jim has completed over 50 assignments in 22 countries. 

Clients and partners include host governments, private enterprises, international organizations, donor agencies and civil society organizations.
